AdvantGroup Honored by Assembly Member Spitzer
Orange, Calif., June 20, 2005 — Assembly Member Todd Spitzer (District 71) presented an award to AdvantGroup LLC, an Orange-based creative services firm, honoring the company’s principals, Chris Calvet and Debi Calvet, for their contributions to the local business community. The occasion was this year’s California Small Business Day event, “A Salute to Small Business,” held on June 15 in Sacramento.
Mr. Spitzer chose AdvantGroup because of its creative contributions to the Orange Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Bureau’s 2004 and 2005 Business Expos. Both years, the company developed a special logo and most of the promotional and print materials for the event. For the 2005 Business Expo, AdvantGroup served as Creative Services Sponsor.

“A Salute to Small Business” was convened by the California Small Business Association (CSBA) and presented by four leaders of the California legislature: Senate President pro Tempore Don Perata, Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez, Senate Minority Leader Dick Ackerman, and Assembly Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. More than 30 California business organizations and chambers of commerce served as sponsors.
In the morning sessions, Senator Ackerman, Assembly Member McCarthy, and representatives from several state agencies met with attendees for the purpose, said CSBA President Betty Jo Toccoli, of discussing “key legislative issues that affect small business.” During the awards luncheon, where each of more than 70 state legislators recognized one small business from his or her district, State Controller Steve Westly gave the keynote address.
